~ Love Joe and Kari

So What is This About?

Our first date we went to the Spindle Top Restraunt in downtown Houston back in 2002. So, that is where we were headed last night.

She was under the impression that we were going to meet a lot of our friends at the Hard Rock Cafe. We arrived downtown about 20 minutes before our reservations and I didn’t want to show up early, so I drove around for a while as if I was lost.

Finally, the time was right, it was 7:20 and we pulled up into the breeze way for the Hyatt Regency and Kari didn’t know what we were doing until the valet parking guy asked if we were here for the Spindle Top and I said yes. Kari looked happy and excited, why else would we be here, and obviously we were not meeting anyone else.

We walked in and headed towards the elevator, they directed us to one specific elevator and there two ladies waiting for us. As we got onto the elevator, one of them handed her a rose and Said, "Here you go Kari, this rose is for you, and I hope you enjoy your diner." As we got on the elevator, I pushed the button for floor 2,3,4,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,14. As the door opened on each floor there was someone there to greet her by name and hand her a long stem red rose on our way to the top. By the time we arrived to the top, she had a dozen.

As the door opened to the top floor, they directed us to our table. It was a romantic setting with candle light and rose petals placed in the shape of a heart.

We ate diner and then I paid, I think she was a little upset I didn’t propose at the table, but as the waiter came to take the check, he said that there is a complimentary desert awaiting us on the second floor, There will be someone to escort us at the elevators.

So this other guy led us to the second floor where a lady was waiting, who showed us to the private banquet room that I had set up. We walked inside this large room and the lights were all off, all the way around the perimeter of the room, wall to wall, there were candles about every 6 inches. A cd player in the corner playing love songs, there was only one table in the entire room and it was in the center. It was a small candle lit table for two that had a long white draping table cloth with rose petals on it; the seats were also covered in white.

The lady closed the door behind us and as she did I dropped to one knee and spoke the words that I had wanted to say for a long time... I asked her to marry me...

She said yes!!!
